改編自Clara Salaman以筆名Natalie Daniels出版的同名小說，這部3集劇由Clara Salaman負責執筆，《福斯特醫生》導演Bruce Goodison執導。
劇中講述法醫精神病學家（研究犯罪時是否在精神正常的狀態）Emma Robinson（Emily Watson飾）被指派接觸正麵臨庭審的Connie，這個女人犯下一宗令人發指的罪行，但她聲稱自己對此毫無記憶；Emma嚐試理解對方與好友Ness之間的複雜關係，尤其是Ness可能是令Connie犯下罪行的原因。
但是在女主發挖真相的過程中，敏銳的Connie察覺到Emma的不安感並加以利用，因此在這場心理博弈裏Emma可能為了正義而走上自毀之路。
