本劇改編自ABC News/ABC Radio的同名播客，講述Elizabeth Holmes及她的公司Theranos如何崛起及墜落。
Amanda Seyfried飾演Elizabeth Holmes，她曾經一度被形容為「下一個喬布斯」，因為她提出一項最新技術能夠隻抽取少量血液就能立即進行檢驗，並因此得到多個名人的投資。然而實際上她和公司皆沒有硬實力達成此事，於是在利欲熏心下Elizabeth開始不停造假，一度推出了根本沒法提供正確數據的驗血機；最終一切被拆穿後，Elizabeth現正麵臨刑事指控，而不認罪的她可能被判長達20年的刑期。
