2010年1月3日18時,由呼和浩特鐵路局包頭客運段值乘的哈爾濱開往包頭的1814次旅客列車,被暴雪造成的雪害困阻在集通線大東溝到三介海子站之間.列車受阻地段正處在深溝凹地,積雪掩埋線路達2米厚300多米長.積雪最厚處不僅掩埋了車頂,而且冰凍封住了列車車門,1400名旅客及乘務人員被困在車廂內.呼和浩特局上下緊急行動起來,迅速在集通線集結了近5000人的除雪大軍,與這場 "雪魔"展開了一場殊死較量.在零下40多攝氏度的刺骨寒風中,鐵路幹部職工一邊為旅客送水送食物,一邊爭分奪秒鏖戰風雪.2010年1月4日20時40分,被困26個小時的1814次列車終於再次啟程,踏上回家的路.
